The Credibility Issue
The # 1 hurdle we face as networkers is establishing credibility in the eyes, hearts, and minds of our prospects. Your prospects need to have a feeling of trust and legitimacy with the products you sell. People that are new to the industry of network marketing are looking for unique and legitimate products that are value added. The are likely to look at the products first and the income opportunity second. So how exactly do your earn their trust through the product?
Many Networkers align themselves with privately held companies that boast of large sales, however can you actually see what the sales of the company are? Most privately held companies don't provide this kind of information. Other networkers will tout science or technical facts to establish how credible their products are. Did your potential distributor call you because they wanted a science lesson? People have short attention spans and selling products that are laden with science tends to be a turn off for most new people looking at your business. Your products should be affordable, simple to understand, and simple enough to be referred along.
Keep in mind that many of these prospects are new to the industry and are faced with thousands of choices. They must weed out the scams from the more legit opportunities. It can be a very daunting task since many have already been pre-programmed that network marketing is a scam. Can you provide your prospects with instant credibility? The type of credibility that can help your prospects overcome their inhibitions about Network Marketing? Can you accomplish this in less than two minutes? Very few marketers can do this with their products and opportunity.
Many companies tout celebrity endorsements to help overcome the credibility hurdle. There is one MLM company that is publicly traded with hundreds of well known celebrity endorsers. In fact this one company has 350+ celebrity world class athletes and coaches endorsing their products. Celebrity endorsers help prospects identify with people bigger than themselves who have put their names and reputations on the line. Imagine being able to invite a prospect to a live call featuring one of your celebrity endorsers. This is just one X Factor or special something that is beneficial to have while marketing any opportunity.
There are plenty of good network marketing companies to choose from. It's really a matter of preference, but the credibility factor is always the same. We have only a small window of time to establish rapport and credibility with our prospects. Being able to establish instant credibility with your prospects core values will put you one step closer to converting them to a distributor.
