The Gambler
I was driving down the road yesterday and I caught an oldie but goodie while I was scanning through the stations. It was the song called "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. As I listened to the song I couldn't help but notice a similarity between the Gambler and MLM / Network Marketing.
Professional Poker players make their living by reading faces and looking for tells. Tells are the hints or a clue that a person gives off that allows you the player to capitalize on your opponents often unconscious signals. By getting to know their tells the more experienced poker player can gauge whether to hold or fold as depicted in the song "The Gambler".
So how does this relate to the industry of network marketing / MLM?
Well for starters we need to recognize the tells our prospects are giving off. If we don't then we risk wasting precious time on people that don't posses that burning hot white desire to change their financial situations. How many times have we missed someone’s tells because we weren't really listening? I know at least for myself that their has been more than a few times that I have failed to pay attention to my prospects tells.
We as recruiters need to know when to hold them or fold them and when to run. I'm sure a few of you reading this have experienced a few you wished you had run from. I believe that everyone is cut out for the MLM business model, however not everyone is willing to do what it takes to work the plan. As recruiters we often find ourselves believing in people that don't often believe in themselves. If you spend the time to read their faces and listen to the words they are using you will be able to recognize your prospects unconscious tells.
May the Bazi be with you as you make it a Bazi day,
Jeff
